Ingredients: 

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 
  • ½ cup dark chocolate, chopped 
  • 1 1/2 cups  brown sugar 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder 
  • 1/4 cup cake flour 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence 
  • 1/4 cup red wine 

Method: 

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Line a small baking tin with wax paper. 
  2. In a pot over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add in chopped chocolate, stirring constantly until the chocolate is melted completely. 
  3. Whisk together the sugar and the melted chocolate and butter. Add in eggs and beat until smooth and well combined. 
  4. Turn the mixer to low and add in cocoa powder, flour, salt, vanilla essence, and wine and mix together well. 
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40 mins. 

 

Valentine’s day is a time for decadence and indulgence and these red wine and dark chocolate brownies are all of that rolled into one. The red wine adds a beautiful richness of flavour, different to regular brownies and pairing it with a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon will make it a night to remember with your loved one.
