The long weekend is approaching, so make the most of your extra time and use it to prepare these delicious drinks, all meant for sharing. Take a moment to reflect on the importance of Human Right’s Day while enjoying this moment with friends and family.

Good vibes and positivity are the key elements for this weekend, and the best way to achieve that is with jugs!

4 Jugs Made For Sharing

  1. Piña Colada

Ingredients
410ml coconut cream
410ml Spiced Gold Rum (use your coconut cream can to measure the rum)
1 litre of fresh pineapple juice.
whipped cream (optional)
cherries to garnish
pineapple slices to garnish

SERVES 8 – 10

So, if you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain, then this one is for you. Mix the coconut cream, rum and pineapple juice together. Add 1 cup of this mixture to 2 cups of crushed ice in a blender. Blend for about 30 seconds. Strain into your jug. Repeat process until the mixture is finished or your serving jug is full.
Garnish with a cherry on top and a pineapple wedge on the side of the glass. For extra extravagance add some whipped cream as a topping.
PRO TIP: Taste it before serving if it is too strong add more pineapple juice. If it is too weak add more rum.

  1. Ginger Snap Punch

Ingredients
1 part fresh lemon juice
1 part honey
7.5cm ginger, prepared
6 parts fresh orange juice
4 parts pear juice
4 parts Bells or Vat 69 Whisky
2 lemons thinly sliced

SERVES 8 – 10

For this punch, the exact milliliters are up to you and the size of your jug / punch bowl. What we do recommend is to follow our part recommendations for a balanced taste.
In a large pot or saucepan combine 8 parts water, the lemon juice, honey and ginger. Bring it to a boil. Once boiling turn down the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Strain the mixture and let it cool. Once cooled add the other ingredients (lemons included) and let it chill until serving.
Serve poured over ice in a tall glass. Garnish the glass with a slice of orange or lemon. Add a fun straw for extra effect.

  1. Rosé Ginsecco

Ingredients
120ml Gordons Gin
1 bottle Cinzano Prosecco
600ml pink lemonade
strawberries to garnish
lemon slices to garnish

SERVES 6

A pink drink + friends = happiness. Simple maths! Add all the ingredients to a jug, top up with ice and serve. Don’t forget to garnish with the strawberries and lemon slices.
PRO TIP: Can’t find prosecco? Substitute it with a sparkling wine like J.C Le Roux. Can’t find pink lemonade? Substitute it with normal lemonade and use a pink sparkling wine for the pink colouring.

  1. Gummy Bear Jungle Juice

Ingredients
1 bottle of Smirnoff Vodka
1 bottle of Red Heart Rum
1 bottle of Gordons Gin
1 bottle of Olmeca Tequila
1 bottle of Butler Liqueur Triple Sec
1 bottle of Peach Schnapps
5 large bags of gummy bears

SERVES 10 – 20

A university throwback, but why not? You are amongst friends, let the good times roll.
Layer the gummy bears by colour in a see-through bowel and pour in the alcohol. Serve in tall glasses with a lot of ice.
PRO TIP: This recipe is perfect for a party. Feel free to quarter the recipe for smaller groups. If you are not as drinking-fit as you once were, skip the rum and tequila and substitute it with sparkling water.

And hey, not everyone likes jugs, so if your family and friends are beer lovers, here is a “jug” for you guys.
Grab 24 different craft beers from your nearest Market Liquors. Add them to an ice bucket with lots of ice, make sure there is a bottle opener nearby and enjoy.
Be sure to try Boston Naked Mexican Lager, CBC Amber Weiss, Blockhouse IPA, Jack Black Pale Ale and Darling Brew Bone Crusher for a great variety of beers.

Cheers to family and friends and the weekend – let’s drink to that!
